Selling to the NHS - We did it our Way

Start:12 Feb 2009 - 09:30
End : 12 Feb 2009 - 16:00

This event will give a practical view of how to get your new medical technology used and bought by the National Health Service in England.  Through a series of case studies it will reveal the various routes available to a company trying to get its technology adopted on national, regional and local levels and give advice as to how to deal with the obstacles along the way.  Focusing on the medical device and diagnostics sectors, we will hear from several SMEs who have successfully found a route into the National Health Service as to how they have achieved supplier status.

This meeting will:-
- Illustrate some of the routes to getting a new technology adopted and used by the National Health Service in England and how these operate at national, regional and local levels.
- Outline some of the barriers typically met by SMEs and show how these can be addressed.
- Explain why getting innovative technologies into the NHS is often extremely difficult and the steps being taken to improve the uptake of innovation by the Service.

Company case studies given by:

- Whiz UK Ltd - inventor of urology collection and disposal products for the medical, leisure and disability markets.
- Oxford Immunotec - clinical diagnostics company behind a novel method for diagnosing active and latent TB infection.
- Econix - developer of the Bio-bin™: a new concept for the safe disposal of infectious waste.
- 2iDesigns - innovator and producer of a range of disposable medical devices and medical instruments.
- Cardionetics - manufacturer of ambulatory ECG devices widely used in general practice.
- DCS Designs - designer of gowns to ensure patient dignity, comfort and safety.
